Infrasonic sensor prototyping

GECO provide with technical and electronic consultancies for sensor prototype development. In 2020 an an high performant infrasound sensor prototype was designed which is today industrialised and marketed worldwide by Lunitek (HERMES sensor), a leading Italian company which design and manufacture advanced instruments for seismology and structural monitoring.

Infrasound avalanche detection system

GECO provide with scientific and technical support to wyssen AC company for the management, data interpretation and future development of the unique infrasonic avalanche detection networks worldwide (IDA® product) currently operating in Switzerland, Norway, Canada and USA as supporting tool for road authorities and municipalities in the avalanche risk management.

Microseismic monitoring and early warning on mine

Since 2019 GECO support Geoapp providing technological and scientific services for the study of micro-seismicity in mining areas and the implementation of innovative monitoring techniques for early warning purposes.

Study and monitoring of the dynamics of active volcanoes

GECO has a close cooperation with the Laboratory of Experimental Geophysics (LGS) of the Department of Earth Sciences (University of Florence) which studies the dynamics of active volcanoes for more than 20 years. Cooperation with LGS guarantees GECO a continuous update on research and techniques in the field of geophysics applied to the study and monitoring of the dynamics of magmatic fluids. GECO provide to LGS technical-scientific and IoT support and services for the final implementation of the early warning systems of paroxysmal eruptions and tsunamis-related on the Stromboli volcano.

An algorithm for monitoring avalanches in the Canadian mountains

GECO has developed the core algorithm of an innovative avalanche detection system owned by wyssen AC company (IDA® product), which automatically detect the infrasound waves produced by avalanches and recorded by sensor’s antennas at 3-5 km distance.
